Montreal New Years is a popular party destination for New Year’s Eve Celebrations. Most Montreal clubs and Montreal bars offer open bars and sell a general admission ticket. Online reservations allow visitors to benefit from lower presale prices. However not all open bars were created equal. Nightclub Authority provides a guide to selecting your event and making your Montreal New Year’s Eve Successful!
Who ever said size does not matter was wrong. With the growing popularity of Montreal New Year’s more and more places offer open bar events. Be wary of places that do not tell you how many people will be at the event. You may wind up in a pub with less than 100 people. Make sure the venue has 300 partiers or more. Unless you want to spend Montreal New Year’s Eve in a McDonalds or a small bar near a bus station, check pictures of the venue you will be attending.
A large club works but make sure that it also has the service you deserve. Some places can host up to 1000 clients but have only 1 bar and a couple bartenders to serve you. That’s why Nightclub Authority came up with the client/bartender ratio. It’s really pretty simple but is a good indicator of the service level an event will have. Most clubs have a 75/1 ratio since they have 1 bartender for every 75 guests. At NightClub Authority a 75/1 is the minimum passing grade. Clubs like LA Boom Montreal will has 60/1 ratio. Discoteca has 45/1 ratio. The lower the grade the more likely you are to spend more time dancing then waiting in line for a drink.
It’s not uncommon for some Clubs to release more tickets than capacity. Tickets should be released in limited quantities that are at most the same as the club’s capacity. Some places deal with so many promoters and their tickets are available in so many places that they do not control the amount made available. “We ask for exclusivity on our Montreal events since we want to uphold quality and are responsible if customers do not get in due to overload in a club. We’ve seen it in the past and probably again this year.” says Charles B. founder of NightClub Authority.
This consideration goes hand in hand with the previous one. Some Clubs run open bars and want to limit there costs by having some of its clientele wait in the cold. You want to check with the club you are attending what the waiting time is. Again, use your judgment, if a club has zero wait time it’s that people don’t want to be there. If it’s too much you may be outside at Midnight. NightClub Authority requests that the event it represents open there doors before the open bar occurs. This allows the club to handle people coming in a little at a time. Otherwise, clients would all rush into the club at the time the event starts.
You want to know what you’re getting into. Make sure your open bar includes the minimums. It should be all inclusive on drinks such as rum and coke, vodka 7, sex on the beach and other favorites. Domestic beer should be on menu as well. NightClub Authority’s events must include that this to qualify as an open bar.
Since its Montreal New Year’s, you want to make sure that the place you will be going to has gone out of its way to make your night a eventful one. If a club makes it like any other nights don’t bother. NightClub Authority event’s all have little extras that go a long way. Party favors, Live Countdowns and other will animate your night. The free kiss at midnight is your responsibility its open bar but it doesn’t mean you should be kissing the bottom of a toilet at midnight.
Make sure you find out what type of music will be playing so you don’t wind up counting down the New Year to the sounds of the oldies (unless that’s your thing of course.) Most places publish the music that typically goes on at the club, but Montreal New Year’s may be different. You just have to check for the places that bother to tell you what the music will be.
There are raves and all night events but why lock yourself to only these events when you can go there after having spent some time in a club. The after-hour and rave list will be long for New Years and they are usually so big that tickets are available last minute. The other consideration is the time spent there. “I don’t see myself in one place for 12 hours” says PL Trudel of NightClub Authority. During the city wide celebrations, many will prefer to go to a club and then move on to the after hour scene while others call it a night. The important is to stay flexible
There is no question that you should book your tickets in advance. Prices go up at the last minute for popular events. Websites like NightClub Authority offer visitors the chance to take a look at the clubs and then decide for themselves.
All of the points here are of no use if you don’t ask questions. Ask the club where your going what the client/bartender ratio is, how long is the wait time and what is included. Be wary of changing answers and zero line ups. Don’t be afraid to ask!
